Interior for Construction
R.W. Buff, Inc.
Ken & Co. Aveda Salon
The complete interior & partial exterior remodel of this historic downtown building created a beautifully modern and efficient space for the owner’s successful salon & spa, while keeping and enhancing its 100 year old character.
The owner’s desire in renovating this historic 100 year old downtown building was to create a modern, more efficient and beautiful space for his salon & day spa, occupying the first two floors of this 3 story multi-use building, while keeping & emphasizing its historic features & character. This was accomplished by opening up the two sides of the main level to take advantage of the high ceilings, free span space and large store front windows in order to create separate areas of the business one side retail and the other salon. This main level includes a wonderful mix of old and new from the ornate tin ceilings & historically recreated front windows and doors to the custom maple cabinets, low voltage lighting, exposed spiral duct work, all new mechanical systems & river rock wall. The 2nd floor was also completely reworked to open up small cramped hallways and rooms and create an inviting peaceful spa environment. This second level features an exposed original brick wall, custom cabinetry; new hand scraped wood floors and all new mechanical systems.
The greatest challenge in doing this project was replacing all the mechanical systems within the brick walls and heavy timber floors of the structure; to include new electrical, plumbing, security & audio from the basement thru the 2nd floor and new high efficient HVAC systems on each level. This project also included complete exterior re-painting, automated fire doors, emergency lighting and installation of a “dumb waiter” from basement to 2nd floor.

An
elegant, new kitchen adds efficiency, style and comfort to daily
living and entertaining.
The homeowners purchased a simple cape cod home and have worked
hard to update it to meet their needs. The new kitchen
is their pride and joy of the various additions and renovations
undertaken at the home over the past __ years. We were
asked to create a spacious workspace necessary to accommodate
the cook of the house from a space that was ‘cramped and
inefficient’.
Improved access to a renovated 3-season sunroom and a new pantry
and laundry room space were primary goals of the homeowners.
Cork floors were installed throughout the kitchen that are both
lovely and ‘soft on the joints’. Lighting
was taken into consideration with recessed lighting in a slightly
vaulted ceiling, under the cabinets and enhanced with natural
lighting from dual oversized windows above the sink; perfect
for viewing the bird feeders. Ample Cherry cabinets and
two tones of granite countertops complete the kitchen and set-off
the luster of the cork floor.
